If I could, I put small pictures of the characters next to them. I don't have any tiny pictures of the secondary characters. If I get some, I'll add them to this page.
Main Characters
The Good Guys
1: Ash Ketchum The star of the show, Ash is 10 years old and wants to be a Pokémon master. He seems to have a lot of luck, both good and bad. While he isn't the brightest person in the world, and makes some big mistakes, he's got a good heart.
2: Pikachu Ash's first Pokémon. Many think Pikachu is the real star of the show! It's name means Electric Mouse and needless to say, getting on the wrong side of this Pokémon can be a shocking experience. Pikachu can be shy, but it's usually a very friendly sort. When Ash and Pikachu started out, they didn't get along very well, but eventually, they worked out their differences. Pikachu refuses to go into a Pokéball.
3: Misty Is a girl around Ash's age. They met when Ash decided to uh, "borrow" her bike. Although Misty was there when the bike was borrowed, she didn't exactly give her permission. After Ash accidentally destroyed the bike, she began traveling with him, trying to get Ash to buy her a new bike. Now it seems that she hangs around with Ash because she sort-of likes him, even though Ash and Misty seem to spend a lot of time fighting. Misty loves water Pokémon.
4: Brock was originally the leader of the Pewter City gym. Now he travels with Ash and Misty. He's older than either of them, but I'd say he's only about 16. His big desire is to become a Pokémon breeder. He's also totally girl-crazy and gets real goofy whenever a pretty girl comes around.
The Bad Guys (Team Rocket)
1: James Is one of the most interesting "bad guys" I've seen. He's the child of rich, dominating parents. He ran away and joined Team Rocket to get away from his family and his fiance, who to be honest, is a total brat. He often has to cross-dress as a woman for some evil scheme, but he doesn't seem to mind. In fact, he thinks he makes "the coolest girl." He also seems to have a magical ability to pluck roses out of thin air. I say that, because he's often got a rose in his hand. I think James tries too hard to be a bad guy. I think, if given the chance, he'd make a better good guy.
2: Jessie Well, they say that behind every good man is a good woman, or in Jame's case, maybe it's in front of every bad man, there is a bad woman. Jessie is Jame's partner in crime. She's the perfect example of red hair means a bad temper. This is my opinion, but I think that Jessie sometimes tries to hard to be bad. Like she's really trying to prove something. But I wouldn't want to tangle with her. Although most of Team Rocket's plans get thwarted, she's still a tough lady.
3: Meowth While Meowth is a Pokémon, he's not "owned" by Jessie or James. He's his own cat, so-to-speak, and don't ever forget it. He's also the only Pokémon we've seen so far, that speaks the human tongue. Why he can do that is unknown at this time.
Secondary Characters Characters
The Good Guys
1: Todd (AKA "Snaps") Todd is a photographer of Pokémon. Originally, he met up with our heros when he was contracted by Team Rocket to "capture" Pikachu. What Team Rocket didn't realized is that Todd captures Pokémon on film.
2: Nurse Joy There are many Nurse Joy's in the Pokémon world and they all are related, have the exact same name and look exactly alike. A Nurse Joy seems to run the Pokémon center in every town.
3: Officer Jenny Just like Nurse Joy, Officer Jenny has lots and lots of relatives, which all look exactly like she does and have the same name. Let's just call this one of the quirks of the Pokémon world. Officer Jenny is usually the local law enforcement for any and every town. Varous Officer Jenny's have been quite a help to our hero's, but her first order of business is to uphold the law. We also find out that at least the first Officer Jenny Ash runs into, is a pretty good stunt cyclist.
4: Professor Oaks He's the Pokémon expert in Palletown, the town Ash comes from. He is the one who gives Ash his first Pokémon, Pikachu. For someone who's so brilliant, he's very low-key about it. He is really the absent-minded professor type.
The Bad Guys
1: Giovanni We don't know much about this guy. We don't even know what he looks like, but he's the founder of Team Rocket. Also, Jessie, James, and Meowth, aren't the only Team Rocket. It's like everyone that works for him becomes Team Rocket.
2: Butch Butch is the first half of another version of Team Rocket. We've only seen them in one episode, but I have a feeling we might see more of them in the future. The only things I can say about Butch is that he seems to be a bigger whimp than James can be. Also, his voice sounds like a frog who just swallowed glass. It's really irritating.
3: Cassidy Butch's partner in their "Team Rocket." We've only seen her in one episode too, but she's more vicious than Jessie ever dreamed of being. It also seems that her and Jessie have some sort of past, but we don't know what it is exactly. They do seem to be locked in a bitter rivalry.
4: Gary Oaks Professor Oak's grandson. While I don't know if I'd exactly classify Gary as a "bad" guy, he doesn't seem very likable. He's basically the arrogant know-it-all jerk we've all run into before. And even worse, he never seems to stumble, never seems to make a mistake. And he loves to lord his superiority over Ash. Sadly for Ash, Gary seems to have this ability to crush him in seconds flat.
